The Holzheim am Forst Castle is a Grade II listed building in the Dornauer 10/12 in the municipality Holzheim am Forst in the district of Regensburg ( Bayern ).

history

On November 1, 1007, King Heinrich II gave the Bamberg monastery his property in the Holzheim manorial area. At that time, Holzheim seems to have been the center of an extensive forest area between Naab and Regen . In the traditions of the St. Paul Monastery, a Marquart von Holzheim is mentioned between 1100 and 1140 . A Weipold and his son Burkheim von Holzheim (Purchart de Holzhaim) also appear among the servants of the women's monastery in 1160–1170. A Gervngus de Holtzheim is mentioned in the early 13th century and a Tetricus de Holzhaim is mentioned in a Examination Document from 1237. A Dietrich von Holzheim is also mentioned in the documents of the Pettendorf monastery in the middle of the 14th century .

The castle must have already existed at the beginning of the 13th century, although it is not certain whether the Lords of Holzheim were its builders; It is also assumed that the Regensburg bishopric, as overlord of St. Paul, initiated the construction of the castles. On September 29, 1354 said Dietrich von Holzheim bought two parts of the tower and the third part of the court from a Dietrich dem Salbeck . A Fridrich der Holzheimer confirmed in 1360 that a house and a farmstead in Holzheim had been given to him by the St. Paul monastery. In the monastery arbors , the Turnhoff is also mentioned among the numerous fiefs at Holzheim .

1541 bought Leonhard von Eck to Holzheim and Wolfseck the Jörg Raid book the village Holzheim from, it is also the secular seat named to the wooden home, which the castle is meant to Holzheim. In 1590 a contract between the Palatinate-Neuburg Duke Philipp Ludwig and the Regensburg Bishop Philipp Wilhelm as well as the Duke Wilhelm of Bavaria stipulated that the Holzheim castle stables should be handed over to a person who would not be against the Duke Philipp Ludwig . In 1602, Holzheim was completely ceded to the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg.

The noble families von Silbermann and von Junker-Bigatto were also owners of the castle . Georg Wolfgang von Silbermann zu Holzheim was landscape chancellor of Count Palatine Wolfgang Wilhelm von Pfalz-Neuburg . Von Reisach adds: "The von Silbermann , von Bertolzhofen , von Thurner , and Tänzl Freyherr von Trazberg owned" this.

In 1743 the castle burned down due to the arson of French auxiliary troops and the owner Johann Nepomuk Freiherr von Reisach commissioned the reconstruction as a castle. There is an old Thurn standing next to it, called the Burgstall . The castle complex ( wall ring , surrounding ditch) no longer appears in the 18th century, but is reduced to the tower.

building

The tower stump of the listed Holzheim castle stable was completely torn down by the owner family towards the end of the 20th century.

On the other hand, the castle was carefully restored by the current owner according to monument protection criteria. The castle is a two-storey gable- roof building with a baroque portal from the 18th century. The outer walls are structured by white-colored pilaster strips and strips. The stone and brick castle wall dates from the 18th century and has also been renovated. The portal, which shows a count's crown, is still missing the corresponding coat of arms.
