The moated castle Köfering is a listed building at Kirchstrasse 5 on the outskirts of Köfering in the Bavarian district of Regensburg .

history

The first moated castle on the Pfatter was probably built in the 12th century. The Köfering family was first mentioned in the middle of the 12th century. Around 1300 the castle was owned by Eckprecht von Haidau , who handed it over to the Regensburg Monastery in 1307 in order to get it from the bishop as a fief . Other owners of the castle were Otto Zenger, Albrecht von Abensberg , Heinrich Nothaft von Mangolding and Scheuer . In 1427 Dietrich von Stauf took over the castle in Köfering by exchange. The fortress Köfering was besieged and destroyed by the Bavarian Duke Albrecht IV with 1000 soldiers on December 26th, 1491 during the uprising of the Löwlerbund , in which the castle owner Hieronymus von Stauf took part . The Count von und zu Lerchenfeld had owned the moated castle since 1569. The castle was damaged in the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt in its present form from 1680 to 1720. A renovation took place from 1980/81 .

building

The moated castle is an irregular, baroque , three-storey three-wing complex with mansard hipped roofs , an entrance projection with portal , ground floor arcades and a staircase with mansard hipped roof. The white hall with inlaid parquet and the chapel are worth seeing . The palace complex consists of a central projectile, which is, however, only connected to a north wing. In the west there is another wing with protruding corner projections, and to the south the single-storey former stables building is attached. The former stables is a single-storey building with a mid-house from the 19th century. The castle courtyard with a plane tree that is around 200 years old is bordered to the east by a row of pillars and a retaining wall. A three-arched stone bridge, which is the only access to the castle, leads over the walled moat that is still preserved .

The residential building (Im Schlosshof 1) is a two-story building with a mansard hipped roof. The two-storey caretaker's house (Kirchstrasse 5) is also covered by a hipped mansard roof with a double wing. At the western entrance to the castle is a pillar with pilasters and essays. The park walls around the park with garden pavilion date from around 1700 to 1720 and were changed in the 19th century.
