The Burgstall Alte Schlossgräben is located in the Hungersacker area of the city of Wörth an der Donau in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria .
Localization
The Burgstall is located at the approach of the slope to the Waxenberger Bach southwest of the Waxenberg desert . It can be reached by following the road north from the hamlet of Hof ; it is about 2.5 km from this hamlet. The Waxenberger Forest is only accessible for forestry traffic; So you have to walk to the castle stalls in the hallway of the castle slopes .
The Burgstall lies on a slightly sloping terrain protruding towards the west. The facility is protected by steep slopes from northwest to south. It is almost circular with a diameter of 30 m. It is protected by a ring moat, which is over 2 m deep on the eastern side of the access and is formed in the slope area several meters below the castle square. To the northeast and east there is a 1 m deep ditch between the ring trench and the castle area, to the east there is an additional section trench outside the ring trench. To the east there is a shallow, oval and 12 m long pit of unclear function. The Burgplatz is densely wooded and difficult to access.
history
The history of the facility is shown under Burgstall Schlössel , as it is not possible to clearly distinguish which of these two facilities the historical data refer to.
