Waxenberg is a district in the Straubing-Bogen district and an abandoned hamlet and former capital of the municipality of the same name in Bavaria, which existed until 1946 .

The district is now exclusively in the municipality of Wiesenfelden in the Straubing-Bogen district. The place, which was abandoned when the last residents moved in August 1906, is now in the municipality of the city of Wörth an der Donau in the Hungersacker district .

geography

The place was in the Waxenberger Forest south of a step in the ridge between the Waxenberger Bach and the Great Perlbach, in the middle between the old castle stables and the castle stalls Schlössel .

He belonged to the school district of Hofdorf , the Catholic parish of Pondorf and most recently to the district of the post office in Wiesenfelden .

history

The place was created in a cleared island in the Waxenberger Forest. In 1406, Jörg der Zenger received from an inheritance from Friedrich des Kammerauer, caretaker for Wörth Castle , Waxenberg. In the next 70 years the village changed hands five times until it came under the rule of Wörth in 1480; viticulture is also mentioned.

On August 24, 1906, the last residents of Waxenberg moved away. The poor economic situation, the urge to emigrate to the USA and disputes among the residents are likely to have contributed significantly to the move. The village of Waxenberg, which was once one of the largest municipalities in the Upper Palatinate in terms of area, was abandoned as planned and the associated arable land was reforested. After the last family left, the place name Waxenberg in the municipality of Höhenberg was abandoned in the 1930s. A memorial plaque in the "Schiederhof" inn near Wiesenfelden reminds of this community to this day.

Former parish

The establishment of the rural community in the district court of Wörth of the Regensburg district office took place in 1827/1828. In 1861 the community consisted of the five places Aukenthal , Forstbrunn , Hub , Schiederhof and Waxenberg (Wachsenberg). By 1871 the two places Breimbachmühle and Gartenroith were added. In 1885 two more places were listed, tree nursery and nursery loft . Between 1885 and 1900 Gartenroith moved to the community of Hofdorf .

The parish area was originally around 2600 hectares and was reduced in 1900 by the possessions of the Prince of Thurn and Taxis , which became a parish -free area . There remained about 645 hectares of community space.

In 1925, Waxenberg and tree nursery were no longer listed as part of the municipality, the name of the municipality remained Waxenberg.

In 1946 the municipality of Waxenberg was dissolved, Augenthal (Aukenthal), Forstbrunn, Hub, Pflegeerschschlag and Schiederhof came to the municipality of Höhenberg in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg , and Breimbachmühle was incorporated into Obermiethnach.

In 1972 the community of Höhenberg including the community parts of the former community of Waxenberg was reclassified into the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen and dissolved in 1974 and incorporated into Wiesenfelden.

On July 1, 2000, the community-free area of Waxenberger Forst-West was incorporated into the city of Wörth an der Donau . → Article List of former unincorporated areas in Bavaria .

The three villages of the tree nursery, nursing home and Waxenberg of the total of nine localities in the former municipal area are now deserted .
