Hungersacker ( Bavarian : Hungasacker ) is a village and district of the Upper Palatinate town of Wörth on the Danube in the Regensburg district in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The Hungersacker district is four kilometers northeast of Wörth in the Falkensteiner Vorwald .

Name and story

The name of the place could be traced back to a field name . Hungry fields were barren soils in contrast to larders . This assumption is supported by historical sources. However, there is a second interpretation: Hunger is an older form of Hungarian ( Hungary ). The Hungarian invasions in the 10th century could be associated with the foundation of the town.

The place was created in a cleared island in the Wörther Forest . The monastic clearing and settlement waves were completed around the year 900. This year is a possible reference to the beginnings of Hungersacker. However, there is no historical evidence for this. Hungersacker belonged to the imperial rule of Wörth and was subject to the local court.

The Kingdom of Bavaria received a constitution for the first time in 1818 . This also regulated the structure of the communities and districts. At that time that was community hunger Sacker with the districts Bierschneider mill , Gschwellmühle, Hafnerhof, Hinterzirnberg, Upper misery Piehl, sub misery and Vorderzirnberg formed. There have been repeated attempts to unite Hungersacker and Weihern, two kilometers away, into one community. This failed due to resistance from both communities.

In 1932 and 1933 the Regensburg District Office made further advances. However, both communities refused again. Hungersacker was also superior to the municipality of Weihern in terms of area, population and tax strength (figures from 1908):

Hungersacker 635.88 ha area / 132 inhabitants

Weihern 204.67 ha area / 103 inhabitants

The last mayor before the merger with Weihern in 1945 was Josef Schöberl.

Population development

In 1970 the population of the hamlet Hungersacker was 57 inhabitants, in 1987 63 inhabitants were registered in the village. The total of the population of all districts of the former municipality Weihern (Hafnerhof, Hinterzirnberg, Hungersacker, Oberelend, Piehl, Unterelend, Vorderzirnberg, Hornau and Weihern) was 194 inhabitants in 1970, in 2000 there were 225 inhabitants.

Territorial reform

On the instructions of the US military government , it was decided on July 11, 1945 to merge Hungersacker and Weihern to form the community of Weihern.

As a result of the regional reform in Bavaria , Hungersacker became a part of the municipality of the city of Wörth an der Donau on April 1, 1971.
