history

War memorial chapel Oberachdorf

In 1134, the Regensburg bishop Heinrich Graf von Wolfratshausen gave the monastery Prüll the tithe rights in Oberachdorf. In 1392 the judge Friedrich der Miethnacher sealed a vineyard award in Oberachdorf. At that time the place was already there. Its name is derived from the Middle High German Ach . This was a name for a stream or a white water . The Wiesent flowing past should have been called Ach at that time .

The village was an independent village for centuries and, at the instigation of the US military government , temporarily came to Markt Wörth between 1945 and 1948. From 1948 until the territorial reform in 1971, the place was again an independent municipality. Originally the rural community consisted only of the village of Oberachdorf. From March 23, 1949 until its dissolution, the community consisted of the two districts of Dorf Oberachdorf and Einöde Wörthhof (previously the community of Wiesent). Oberachdorf expanded significantly in the 1960s and 1970s. New settlements were created. The last mayor was Franz Himmelstoss, his predecessors were Johann Weig, Xaver Röhrl and Johann Knott.

In 1973 the city opened up the "Straßenacker" settlement and in 2014 a new building area on Ahornstrasse .

Ferry Oberachdorf - Pfatter around 1900

Former Danube ferry

For a long time, a taxi ferry ran across the Danube at river kilometer 2350.7 and connected Oberachdorf with the Pfatter on the right . The municipality of Pfatter owned the ferry. The ferry was of great economic importance. In 1945, before the American invasion, it was blown up and put back into operation after the war. In June 1964, before the inauguration of what was then the “longest Danube bridge in Germany: Wörth - Pfatter”, it ceased operations. The next Danube bridges used to be in Straubing and Donaustauf .

Flood polder Wörthhof

Since the Oberachdorf district, along with other parts of the city, would be directly affected by the " Wörthhof " flood pold planned by the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection , the city of Wörth an der Donau has unanimously and emphatically spoken out against the plans of the Bavarian state government. The district administrator of the district of Regensburg Tanja Schweiger is also skeptical. A groundwater problem that has existed for years, caused by the Danube, and the threat to the drinking water supply of the city of Wörth, which is also in the immediate vicinity of the planned flood polders, would clearly speak against it. A strong protest movement called "IG-Polder" has emerged from numerous farmers and citizens.

On April 11, 2015, the CSU district chairwoman and Minister of Social Affairs Emilia Müller visited the district of Kiefenholz to familiarize herself with the problem of flood polders.

Due to the coalition agreement concluded between the Free Voters and the CSU after the state elections on October 14, 2018 in Bavaria , the flood polder concept is no longer being pursued in the Regensburg district. This was a key demand of the Free Voters. The funds released are to be invested in decentralized flood protection along the Danube and all its inlets.
