Pål Skjønberg

Pål Eugen Bucher Skjønberg (born October 20, 1919 in Stavanger ; † February 3, 2014 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian film and theater actor and theater director .

Life

Skjønberg made his debut as a theater actor in 1945 at Det Norske Teatret in Oslo and worked there with a few interruptions until he retired in 1989. In the period from 1951 to 1952 he also appeared at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen . Pål Skjønberg has also worked as a director and as a teacher at several Norwegian theaters. He also worked at the Norwegian radio theater ( Radioteatret ), television theater ( Fjernsynsteatret ) from the NRK . Skjønberg was also active as a theater actor at Riksteatret on a national tour in Norway and from 1968 to 1976 a board member of this theater.

He also played as an actor in several Norwegian film and television productions. To his most famous appearance his debut belonged in the film Englandsfarere of 1946. Back to Life of Alex Brinchmann he played the lead role of the architect Per Holm, this film was in 1958 at the 8th International Film Festival in Berlin presented and for the Golden Bear nominated. Skjønberg had other well-known appearances in 1968 in Hunger and in 1969 in Himmel og helvete .

Skjønberg was awarded the Royal Medal of Merit ( Kongens fortjenstmedalje ) in gold for its services .

family

His parents were the actors Henny Skjønberg and Eugen Skjønberg and his brother Espen Skjønberg was also an actor. Pål Skjønberg was married to his professional colleague Elisabeth Bang and had two children together, the actors Hennika Skjønberg and Siv Skjønberg .
