Karl Prüßner (born August 18, 1913 in Herford ; † September 12, 2006 ) was a German politician and member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school , he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter . He then attended the arts and crafts school. After working as a carpenter, Prüßner worked as a public service operator.

Prüßner had been a member of the SPD since 1931. He was active in various party committees, such as B. as chairman of the local association in Herford and as a member of the state committee of the SPD. He was also chairman of the district committee of the ÖTV trade union .

From July 21, 1962 to July 25, 1970, Prüßner was a member of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was each in the constituency 141 Herford-Stadt u. Herford-Land-Süd or 144 Herford-Stadt - Herford-Land I directly selected. At times he was a member of the city ​​council of Herford .

On March 16, 1990, Prüßner was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and in 1979 the Great Federal Cross of Merit. Karl-Prüßner-Strasse was named after him in Herford. In addition, Prüßner was an honorary citizen of his hometown.
