Alexander Elbrächter

Alexander Elbrächter (born February 20, 1908 in Herford ; † May 10, 1995 in Hanover ) was a German politician ( DP , CDU ).

Life and work

After attending primary and secondary school , Elbrächter studied chemistry in Freiburg im Breisgau and Göttingen . In 1931 he obtained his doctorate. rer. nat and became an assistant at the Physico-Chemical Institute of the University of Göttingen. A year later, he became the chief food chemist at the baking powder manufacturer Reese in Hameln , a subsidiary of Dr. August Oetker KG . In 1942 he was called up for military service, but a year later he was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in 1948.

After his return to Hameln, Elbrächter worked there again as a chemist at Reese, but also as a lobbyist for the Dr. August Oetker KG active in the Bundestag.

Political party

Elbrächter belonged to the German party since 1947 . He left on June 20, 1958 and joined the CDU four days later.

MP

Elbrächter had been councilor in Hameln since 1952. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1969.

From February 27 to October 8, 1958, he was also a member of the European Parliament .
