history

The history of the Hermann Bock company began when it was founded on April 1, 1919 in Gütersloh by Hermann Bock. Initially, struts, mudguards, chain guards and saddles were produced for the bicycle industry. When Ernst Bock, the deputy mayor of the municipality of Verl elected in 1979, joined the company on September 1, 1962, the production of tubular steel frames for the furniture industry began. In May 1968 the production of bicycle accessories was finally stopped and Hermann Bock concentrated on the production of those tubular steel frames. In 1971 the company received a major order to equip the Olympic venues with table bases at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and Kiel. In the early 1970s, Hermann Bock GmbH continued to focus on health-oriented lying with the production of slatted frames. The development and manufacture of a two-motor slatted frame was followed by the first height-adjustable electric care bed in 1983. Hermann Bock has been offering complete care facilities since 1992 and has a market-relevant position in the field of health beds for therapy and care in Germany.

The company gained notoriety through a number of developments. In 1938, the first patent was granted with the collapsible chair and an essential product in the camping area was created. In 1999 the lifting column and the height adjustment device were granted as patents, especially for hospital and nursing beds. Further developments in the care sector followed, such as B. Sleep systems and the spring elements Spiroplex and Ripolux . The Smart Care Control developed in 2014 , a wireless and graphical bed control via tablet app with modular measuring sensors, and the ultra-low bed were among the nominees for the 2015 Innovation Award at the Altenpflege trade fair . With the ultra-low bed, for the first time in Germany, the company enables sleeping positions with bed heights in the single-digit centimeter range for the purpose of falling prophylaxis and avoidance of deprivation of liberty for people in need of care.

In November 2016, Hermann Bock GmbH moved into a new administration building with a usable area of around 1300 square meters in Nickelstrasse in Verl.

In 2017, Hermann Bock GmbH was awarded the OWL innovation prize “Shaping the Future” for SMART Care Control®. In everyday care, SMART Care Control ensures, among other things, that caregivers are notified via app, for example, when a resident at risk of falling is about to get out of bed.
