Hermann Georg Franz von Gemmingen

Hermann Georg Franz von Gemmingen (born February 18, 1857 in Venice , † July 29, 1919 in Edlitz ) was an Austrian officer. He was the landlord of Gemmingen and Ittlingen , imperial royal privy councilor and general of the cavalry.

Life

He was a son of Otto von Gemmingen and Sarah Anna Stewart of Ardvorlick (1829-1910). He attended the cadet school in Prague and on October 1, 1875 was cadet in the Dragoon Regiment Prinz Eugen von Savoyen No. 13. In 1876 he was promoted to lieutenant, in 1880 to first lieutenant. In 1880 he attended the Military Riding Instructor Institute in Vienna and then worked as a riding instructor in the Brigade Officers School in Pordubitz (Bohemia). After attending the Austro-Hungarian War School in Vienna in 1882/83 he was a General Staff Officer of the 4th Cavalry Brigade in Budapest from 1883 to 1887 , where he was appointed captain in the General Staff Corps with the 9th Infantry Division Command in Prague. In November 1891 he came to the Dragoon Regiment Emperor Ferdinand No. 4. In May 1893 he returned to the General Staff Corps as Chief of Staff of the 9th Inf. Troop Division. In 1894 he was a major in the Cavalry Troop Division in Vienna. During his military career, he eventually rose to general.

From 1884 he was married to Elisabeth Freiin von Waechter (1864–1937). After their divorce in 1905, he married Lisa Redlich von Redensbruck (1879–1935).
