Hermann Gohm

Hermann Gohm (born November 17, 1930 in Röns ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. From 1974 to 1979 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Gohm attended elementary school in his home town in Röns for eight years and then completed two years of commercial school in Feldkirch . He then worked in his parents' honey trade from 1948 to 1950 and founded a sawmill and a timber trade together with his father in 1950. Gohm retired in 1995 and leased his business until 2005, after which his company was dissolved.

Politics and functions

Gohm became a party member of the Austrian People's Party and the Austrian Economic Association in 1959. Between 1960 and 1987 he was involved as a member of the local council of Röns and between 1965 and 1987 he also held the office of mayor. Within the party he was local party chairman of the ÖVP Röns from 1973 to 1987, at the district level he was a member of the district party leadership of the ÖVP Feldkirch between 1973 and 1987. As a member of the Feldkirch electoral district , he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from November 13, 1974, replacing Rudolf Mandl , who was elected regional governor . Gohm resigned from the state parliament on November 5, 1979 at the end of his first legislative term. In the state parliament he was a member of the finance committee, member of the control committee and member of the agricultural committee. Furthermore, he was a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg during his time as a member of parliament.

In addition to his political mandates, Gohm was active in numerous associations. He was a member of the Röns volunteer fire brigade, a member of the Schlins-Röns men's choir, a member of the Röns parish council and a member of the Röns church choir. Furthermore, e was involved as the head of the Vorarlberg sawmill industry and was chairman of the regional timber industry council. He was also a member of the Wastewater Association Walgau and a member of the Verkehrsverband Oberland-Walgau.

Private

Gohm was born as the son of the businessman and sawmill owner Johann Gohm and his wife Regina. He married Maria Häusle in 1953 and had four daughters between 1951 and 1968.
