He came to Vienna from Werschitz. In 1872 the factory for the manufacture of exclusively authorized Meidinger ovens and household appliances for the oven industry in Austria was founded in Oberdöbling . With the introduction of the Meidinger regulating, filling and ventilation oven with an enamelled jacket, he not only displaced the iron ovens that had been in use up to that point in better living spaces, but also successfully competed with clay ovens due to their great superiority in terms of carbon savings, uniformity and controllability of the heat. In order to be able to meet the various needs, the factory soon started to carry out special constructions. Their stove for heating several rooms soon became very popular and their patented smoke-consuming fireplaces were popular in elegant apartments because of their abundant, rapid and controllable heat emission.

Heim supplied the stove with a ventilation base for schools, meeting rooms, hospital wards, etc., which made it possible to supply these rooms with the fresh air they needed, while avoiding any drafts. Every small village school had well-ventilated classrooms thanks to this stove.

A special construction was carried out for the heating of the wagons, which was used successfully both on medical trains of the Austro-Hungarian Army and by railways.

Since the choice of the most suitable stove caused difficulties for the non-specialist, the factory made its suggestions to the reflectors free of charge on the basis of plans of apartments or entire buildings sent in .

The factory's activity covered all areas of heating and ventilation with equal success. It implemented fire air, steam, water heating and rapid circulation hot water heating with smoke-free firing systems according to its patents, as well as greenhouse heating , ventilation systems and drying systems for all kinds. The so-called Vesta ovens were also produced .

The company became very successful in its field. It was with kk Austrian and k. Hungarian privileges and the products have been awarded first prizes at many exhibitions. In addition to the main branch in Vienna, branches were opened in Thonethof in Budapest and at Hybernergasse 7 in Prague . Customers were not only the upper middle class and the nobility, but also the imperial court. For the merits and because of the high quality products, Hermann Heim was awarded the title of kuk court supplier and he was awarded the "Signum Laudis".

According to self-promotion, over 75,000 ovens were in use in 1903, of which around 2,761 were installed in offices, imperial institutions and authorities, 8,407 in teaching institutions, 2,585 in hospitals and humanitarian institutions, and 2,976 Heim ovens in barracks and military institutes.

Hermann Heim died after a short illness at the age of 74 and was buried in the Helenenfriedhof in Baden near Vienna . He was married to Sophie Schmitt and had two children, Hedwig and Felix.
