Hermann Hiller (politician)

Hermann Georg Hiller (born January 4, 1867 in Kirchheim , † August 31, 1931 in Stuttgart ) was a German politician.

Life and work

Hermann Hiller was the son of master tailor Johannes Hiller (1839–1882) and Friederike Christiane Sophie Hiller, née. Fetzer (1834–1877) and had four siblings. Hermann Hiller attended elementary school and secondary school in Kirchheim. From 1881 to 1884 he was an incipient (apprentice writing) and assistant to the city police in Tübingen and the administrative actuary in Kirchheim. From 1887 to 1888 he prepared for the administrative service examination and passed it in 1888. Then he did his military service until 1890. From 1890 to 1893 he worked as an assistant at the Württemberg General Directorate of the State Railways. From 1893 to 1922 he was administrator of the Stuttgart city garden, managing director of the Württemberg Federation for Trade and Industry and the Württemberg-Hohenzollern Millers Association. In 1897 he married Sofia Widmann (1873-1958), with whom he had a child. Hermann Hiller was buried in the Pragfriedhof in Stuttgart.

Hiller belonged to the Conservative Party in the German Empire . From 1906 to 1918 Hiller was a member of the Stuttgart City Council in the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament . At the end of 1918 he joined the civil party , the Württemberg variant of the DNVP . In 1919 and 1920 he was a member of the state constituent assembly. From 1920 until his death in 1931 he was a member of the Landtag of the Free People's State of Württemberg . From 1919 to 1928 Hiller was also a member of the Stuttgart City Council. In 1923 he made contacts with the NSDAP on behalf of the Citizens' Party .
