Hermann Kerger

Hermann Kerger (born March 3, 1906 in Busendorf , Lothringen ; † April 12, 2009 in Frankfurt (Main) ) was a German general practitioner and professional medical officer .

Live and act

Born in Lorraine, he studied medicine in Frankfurt am Main and received his license to practice medicine in 1930. After initially working as a country doctor in Brazil for three years , Kerger established himself as a general practitioner in Frankfurt / Main in 1936. After serving as a medical officer in Russia and being a prisoner of war, he reopened his practice in Frankfurt in 1948.

Kerger was a co-founder and long-term chairman of the German Society for General Medicine. Kerger was involved in professional politics in the Hartmannbund , of which he became an honorary member. He joined the association even before the Second World War. In addition, Kerger was a member of the Presidium of the State Medical Association of Hesse and a member of the Presidium there. He was a member of the German Senate for Medical Training and the German Academy for General Medicine of the German Medical Association .

Kerger is considered a pioneer in advanced medical training in Germany. He was a co-founder of the Academy for Medical Training and Further Education of the State Medical Association of Hesse in Bad Nauheim and its chairman from 1971 to 1986.
