Hermann Langenbeck (philosopher)

Hermann Langenbeck (born November 14, 1836 in Hildesheim , † June 30, 1869 in Groß Schneen , Göttingen district ) was a German philosopher.

Life

Langenbeck was the son of Carl Wilhelm Langenbeck, Geh. Medical council in Gifhorn. He studied at the Georg-August University of Philosophy in 1856 active in his father Corps Teutonia Göttingen. In 1858 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. As a student of Hermann Lotze , he completed his habilitation two years later. The University of Marburg appointed him on November 22, 1865 as associate professor for philosophy. In research and teaching he proved to be the wrong choice. On leave of absence for the summer semester of 1869 due to illness, he did not see the end of the semester. He died at the age of 32.
