Hermann Loeschcke

Hermann Loeschcke , (born May 13, 1882 in Dorpat , † September 27, 1958 in Rostock ) was a German pathologist .

Life

Hermann Loeschke was born as the son of the classical philologist and archaeologist Georg Loeschcke in Dorpat, then part of the Russian Empire . After graduating from high school in Bonn , he studied medicine at the universities in Bonn and Berlin from 1901 to 1905 . After graduating as Dr. med. and an activity as an assistant doctor in Bonn was from 1908 assistant and from 1910 prosector at the Pathological Institute of the University of Cologne . In 1911 he completed his habilitation . In 1913 he became director of the pathological institute of the municipal hospitals in Mannheim and in 1929 a full honorary professor for pathology at the University of Heidelberg . From 1931 to 1947 he was a full professor at the University of Greifswald . In 1948 he received a call as a full professor at the University of Rostock , where he worked until 1955 as director of the Pathological Institute. His research areas were specifically pulmonary pathology, tuberculosis and pneumonia .

Loeschcke was elected a member of the Leopoldina in 1936 . In 1955 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin . He was an honorary doctor from the University of Greifswald.
