Hermann Münter (Mayor)
Hermann Münter (* 1679 in Lübeck ; † January 7, 1743 there ) was a merchant and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
Hermann Münter was born as the son of the Lübeck merchant Lorenz Münter . He soon relieved his father of business trips abroad and toured Denmark and Sweden. In 1703 he traveled to the Netherlands. In 1704 he went to France by ship. From the ports on the Atlantic (La Rochelle, Bordeaux) he also travels to Paris inland and back to Lübeck via Antwerp. On November 19, 1716, Münter entertained Tsar Peter the Great and his entourage in his home garden. He was elected to the city council in 1724, where he was appointed mayor in 1738 .
He was married to a daughter of the Lübeck businessman Adolf Brüning , a granddaughter of the Lübeck councilor Adolf Brüning . As a passionate collector, he owned a private library as well as a natural history cabinet and a coin collection.
