Hermann Paulsen

Hermann Paulsen (born February 2, 1918 in Elmshorn ; † June 10, 2011 in Kiel ) was a German special education teacher, school director, mathematician and artist.

life and work

Hermann Paulsen lived and worked in Kiel. He became known for his impossible figures , illusionistic structures that are geometrically constructed similar to the graphic representations of MC Escher and create the illusion of a three-dimensional figure. He also created carvings and sculptures and wrote various books about his artistic works, some as textbooks, and an autobiography in three parts.
