Hermann Popp

Hermann Popp (born October 24, 1871 in Hanover , † October 26, 1943 in Berlin ) was a German art historian and writer.

Life

Hermann Popp was the son of the First Imperial Public Prosecutor in Strasbourg and Privy Councilor Richard Popp and his wife Caroline Schömer. He studied at the University of Zurich, where he received his doctorate on March 8, 1899 with his dissertation Contribution to the History of Modern Artist Aesthetics . Since 1899 Popp was married to Elsbeth Salinger (* 1876), with whom he had two children Johann (* 1900) and Monalisa (* 1905).
