Hermann Rentzsch (politician)

Heinrich Hermann Rentzsch (born October 9, 1832 in Daubnitz , † February 23, 1917 in Blasewitz ) was a German industrial association representative and member of parliament.

Life

Rentzsch studied natural sciences and economics in Leipzig from 1855 to 1858. He received his doctorate as Dr. phil. In the winter of 1855/56 he became a member of the Leipzig University Choir of St. Pauli (now the German Choir ). Between 1859 and 1862 he was a senior teacher at a secondary school in Dresden and an editor for economics at the Saxon constitutional newspaper. From 1862 he worked as secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dresden.

He was a member of the Second Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament from 1868 to 1873. He was a deputy member of the state parliament's committee for the administration of public debt. He was a member of the Reichstag from 1878 to 1881. There he represented the constituency of Saxony 1 ( Zittau ). He belonged to the National Liberals or the Liberal Association .

After a short time at the Saxon railway construction company, he became managing director of the Association of German Iron and Steel Industries . He held this position until 1892. From 1876 to 1877, he also took over the general secretariat of the German Trade Conference and the Central Association for the Uplift of German River and Canal Shipping. Rentzsch was one of the initiators and co-founders of the Central Association of German Industrialists . Between 1885 and 1900 he was managing director of the Association of German Shipyards. He published several mostly economics writings.
