Hermann Ritzau (painter)

Hermann Ritzau (born March 14, 1866 in Wolsdorf ; † November 26, 1922 in Helmstedt ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Ritzau studied painting at the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He attended the Weimar Academy from 1883 to 1884 and the Düsseldorf academy from 1884 to 1893. The landscape painter Eugen Dücker was his teacher in Düsseldorf . Later he taught as a drawing teacher at the Julianum grammar school in Helmstedt. As a landscape painter, he traveled to the Harz Mountains, the Lüneburg Heath and the island of Rügen.
