Hermann T. Antoni (born August 21, 1929 - August 18, 2019 ) was a German physiologist and university professor .

biography

Antoni began his professional and scientific career in 1956 after completing his doctorate at the University of Freiburg as Dr. med. After working as a medical assistant at the municipal hospital in Baden-Baden and at the women's clinic at the University of Freiburg, he received his license to practice medicine in 1957. He then worked as an assistant at the Physiological Institute at Freiburg University and became an employee of the newly appointed physiologist Albrecht Fleckenstein . Antoni completed his habilitation in the field of physiology and received his teaching license in 1964. His main area of ​​work was the electrophysiology of the heart. In 1969 he was offered a professorship in physiology at the University of Frankfurt / Main as the successor to Karl Wezler . Five years later he received a call to the newly created second ordinariate of physiology at the University of Freiburg, which he followed in 1975.

He was the eighth recipient of the Paul Morawitz Prize.
