Hermann Timm

Hermann Timm (born May 21, 1938 in Sieseby an der Schlei) is a Protestant theologian.

Life

Timm studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Kiel, Berlin, Göttingen and Heidelberg; his teachers included Karl Löwith , Gerhard von Rad , Günter Bornkamm and Hans-Georg Gadamer . In the winter semester of 1965/66 he received his doctorate from Heidelberg University as Dr. theol. with a thesis on Albrecht Ritschl and Wilhelm Herrmann and on Dr. phil. with the work The Spinozarenaissance . In 1976 he qualified as a professor at Heidelberg University for systematic theology with a thesis on Johannism. In 1982 he became an adjunct professor at the University of Heidelberg. From 1987 to 2003 he was Professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Munich . In 1994 he won the Bad Herrenalber Academy Award . His students include Markus Buntfuß , Klaas Huizing and Christian Senkel .
