Hermann Tomczyk (born December 15, 1950 in Mais , Sankt Georgen (Traunreut) in the Traunstein district ) is a German automobile functionary. He's ADAC -Sportpräsident (currently until 2021), vice president of automotive world governing body FIA and was to 23 October 2009 Member of the FIA World Council. Education and personal career

In 1971 he began studying business administration at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where he passed the state examination in 1976. Since 1979 he has been a partner and managing director of Herto-GmbH in Rosenheim, in 1993 he founded Tomczyk & Söhne-GdbR, which deals with the brokerage of commercial real estate.

Career as a motor sportsman

Tomczyk has been a member of the ADAC since 1970 and was once an active motor sportsman himself. In 1972 he took part in the Olympic rally in Germany and competed successfully in national rallies in the years that followed.

In 1979 he switched to the racetrack and competed in races for the European Touring Car Championship before an accident in 1980 initially put an end to his career. In 1984, the Rosenheimer celebrated a comeback as a rally driver and won the Mitropa Challenge Cup. When he won this cup, he was already working as a sports commissioner.

Career as an automobile official

His motorsport experience made him a sought-after expert nationally and internationally. From 1989 to 1995 Tomczyk acted as "Permanent Sports Commissioner" and Race Director in the DTM and between 1986 and 2009 he was FIA Sports Commissioner in Formula 1.

Before Tomczyk became ADAC Sports President, he was already the Vice President of the German Motor Sport Association and one of the few Germans who were invited by the FIA ​​as “stewards” to Formula 1 races .

In February 2008 he announced his resignation on April 5, 2008 at a general meeting of the DMSB. In addition to his predecessor in the presidency, Winfried Urbinger, Tomczyk is currently still active as honorary president for the DMSB.

Since December 2012 he has been a member of the FIA Motorsport World Council .

In 2017 Tomczyk was confirmed in his office as ADAC Sports President, making him the longest-serving Sports President in his sixth term in the 114-year history of ADAC eV.

On December 8, 2017 Tomczyk was elected as one of seven Vice Presidents of the World Automobile Federation ( FIA ). Tomczyk had run as a representative of the German Motor Sport Federation ( DMSB ) and was elected Vice President Sport for the Europe region for the next four years.
