Hermann Vollrath

Hermann Vollrath (born March 15, 1840 in Heusweiler ; † July 21, 1912 in Düsseldorf ) was a German engineer and industrialist .

Hermann Vollrath

Hermann Vollrath, son of tax collector Ludwig Vollrath , attended the provincial trade school in Trier until 1857. He then studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe until 1860 . There he became a member of the Teutonia fraternity . Until 1866, Vollrath worked as an engineer at various iron works and became director of the Kissing & Schmöle iron works in Schwerte .

Düsseldorf Ironworks Society

In 1868 he moved to Düsseldorf and founded a puddling and rolling mill with two friends under the company Flender, Schlüter & Vollrath . In 1889 this company was converted into a stock corporation called Düsseldorfer Eisenhütten-Gesellschaft . In the same year, the HA Flender rivet, screw and nut factory was acquired, and Vollrath took over the management of the entire company and managed it until his death.

voluntary work

At the beginning of the 1870s, Vollrath founded the Salzschlirf spa . He was the owner for 27 years until the spa was taken over by the newly formed AG Bad Salzschlirf in 1900 . Vollrath was elected to the supervisory board as deputy chairman. He was also a member of the supervisory board of several industrial companies.

Vollrath was involved in the Rhenish Steam Boiler Monitoring Association . He has been a member since the association was founded in 1877 and a board member since 1881. Vollrath was heavily involved in the development of the association, and ensures its recognition by authorities and industrialists.
