Hermann Weiß (born September 29, 1833 in Rottenburg am Neckar , † April 1, 1898 in Tübingen ) was a Protestant theologian and professor in Tübingen.

Live and act

Hermann Weiß studied in Tübingen from 1851 to 1855, was deacon and district school inspector in Vaihingen in 1858, in Nürtingen in 1863, from 1875 as the successor of Christian David Friedrich Palmer (1811-1875) full professor of theology in Tübingen and since 1891 retired.

Albrecht Ritschl directed his work "Theologie und Metaphysik" against white, among other things.

In his foreword to a text by Friedrich Schleiermacher , Weiss described it as "the real Protestant church father of our century".
