biography

Zickert was born in Eisleben as the son of master butcher Gustav Zickert. He studied at the Technical University of Freiberg and Munich, Berlin and Heidelberg, and in 1907 in Heidelberg with a dissertation on the evolution of sales of Czech brown coal and its importance for the coal supply in central Germany to the Dr. phil. PhD . He then worked as a business editor at Berliner Tageblatt and then as editor of the financial magazine Wirtschaftlicher Ratgeber . In 1919 he published his stock market letter "Ratgeber auf dem Kapitalmarkt" in Berlin and in 1923 founded the first German investment association, which would be called an investment club today , and thus invented fund savings. In 1924 Zickert published his book The Eight Commandments of Finance , which became a bestseller, and developed his own stock analysis model. In 1934 he published what was probably the first stock exchange guide in Germany.

In 1931 Zickert emigrated with his family to Liechtenstein and justified this step with the economic and psychological pressure that prevailed in Germany and did not allow one to get an objective picture. He lived and worked there until his death in 1954.
