Hermann von Langen (* in the 15th century; † November 20, 1508 in Münster ) was cathedral dean in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Hermann von Langen came from the Westphalian noble family von Langen and was the son of Bernd (Bernd II.) Von Langen, Knappe and Burgmann zu Steinfurt, and his wife Adelheid von Helmstede called Kulen. His uncle Hermann von Langen was cathedral dean in Münster. His eponymous cousin Hermann was canon in Münster, his brother Rudolf canon and early humanist.

Act

On September 23, 1461, Hermann was mentioned for the first time as Canon of Münster and on March 7, 1474 as Archdeacon of Billerbeck. His election as provost of St. Mauritz in Münster fell in 1485. Hermann was cathedral dean from 1503 until his death. His epitaph can be found in Münster Cathedral . His son Egbert came from a cohabitation and was later a judge in Rheine.
