Hermann von Lips
Hermann von Lips (born April 15, 1942 in Irmelshausen ) is a German Lutheran theologian and professor of the New Testament .
After studying Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau, Tübingen, Heidelberg and Erlangen, Hermann von Lips was ordained pastor of the Bavarian State Church in 1973. From 1976 to 1983 he was pastor at the Resurrection Church in Fürth. From 1983 to 1993 he was assistant for the New Testament at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Munich. After a doctorate in Heidelberg (1974) and habilitation in Munich (1989), he was Professor of New Testament at the Theological Faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg from 1994 to 2007 . In 2009 he became chairman of the Central German Bible Works. He is married to Ingeborg von Lips (née Sältemeyer).
