Hermelin are a Postrock band from Hanover .

history

Hermelin was founded in 2001 as Soaked In Red . At first the group played guitar rock with vocals, but over the years it developed more and more into a more experimental style of music. According to statements from the band itself, this development took place rather by chance, encouraged by the fact that singer and guitarist Edward decided not to want to sing as much anymore, and at about the same time the musical interests of the individual group members changed:

"It was all around at the beginning of 2005, when the pieces with vocals just became less and less and we noticed that it worked."

style

Ermine music was influenced by several styles. The group itself cites post-rock and post-metal groups like Isis and Explosions in the Sky as well as psychedelic rock groups like Sonic Youth as influences. Compared to other well-known post rock groups, such as Oceansize , the pieces of the band are much rougher.

Publications and dissemination

Published in 2006 Ermine, a split LP together with the Cologne Noise - and post-rock band Junique Fois Pi on the net label 12rec . The group's debut album was released in 2008 on the same label and, like the split LP, can be downloaded for free (see web links).

For the first time, the group's presence on Myspace gave the quartet a little fame beyond the Hanover area; so was z. B. in the weblog of the nationally known Hildesheim radio show Schallgrenzen reviewed and recommended the debut album of the group.
