The Hermesberg is a 444.7 m high wooded elevation and is located in the Thuringian tip in the corridor of the city of Werra-Suhl-Tal in the Wartburg district in Thuringia . In terms of nature, the Hermesberg is part of the Seulingswald . It is used for forestry.
A section of the Hessian-Thuringian border near Heringen (Werra) leads over the Lerchenberg . The medieval desert of Spielerode is located on the eastern slope. There is still a fountain from the village as proof of its location. The Hermesberg forms a spur-like ridge tapering towards the Werra valley with numerous medieval ravines. This old road, which flows into the Seulingswald, was under the supervision of Hornsberg Castle, just 500 meters to the south .
