Hermione ( Greek  Ἑρμιόνη ) is in Greek mythology the daughter of King Menelaus of Sparta and his wife Helena . Her mother Helena was the daughter of Zeus and Leda and was considered the most beautiful of all women.

Hermione was Orestes' fiancée . Her father promised her to Neoptolemus in the Trojan War , whom she had to marry. When Neoptolemus was killed at the hand of Orestes, she became Orestes' wife.

Hermione is occasionally mentioned in the Iliad and the Odyssey as well as in Andromaque by Racine .

Eponyms
