Hero Brahms

Hero Brahms (born July 6, 1941 in Münster / Westphalia ) is a German industrial manager .

Origin and family

His father was a member of the board of directors of the Gronau cotton mill . After graduating from high school in Gronau in 1961, he initially did a banking apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in Münster from 1961 to 1963 . This was followed by a degree in business administration from 1963 to 1968 in Munich and Münster. In Munich he became a member of the Corps Isaria.

Brahms has been married to Katharina Brahms since 1986. He has a son.

Career

Brahms began his professional career from 1969 to 1981 at Hoesch AG . In 1978 he was granted power of attorney and he became deputy head of the finance department. In 1980 he became a personal employee of the chairman of the board, Detlev Karsten Rohwedder, and was a member of the board from 1982 to 1991.

From June 1991 to November 1994 Brahms was Vice President of the Treuhandanstalt , where he developed the concept of a Management GmbH & Co. KG (MKG) as a rescue company for companies that could not be immediately privatized. His focus was on handling the areas of heavy machinery and general mechanical engineering.

As a result, Brahms was a member of various boards and supervisory boards:

  • November 1, 1994 to January 1996: Member of the Board of Management of Kaufhof Holding AG
  • December 1995 to May 1996: Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bremer Vulkan Verbund AG
  • July 1996 to 2004: Member of the Executive Board of Linde AG
  • May 2005 to October 2008: Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Arcandor AG (KarstadtQuelle AG until June 2007)
  • May 27, 2014: Resignation from the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG
