Heroin was an American punk band.

history

Heroin was founded in 1989 in San Diego by singer and front man Matt Anderson, guitarist Scott Bartoloni, bassist Ron Johnson and drummer Aaron Montaign. Two years after the band was founded, Vinyl Communications released their first single. The group then released on the San Diego-based independent label Gravity Records. There was a 7 "with the title Heroin . This publication was also the first on the newly founded label. This was followed by a 12", which was also titled Heroinbefore the group disbanded in 1993. The band members then played in different groups such as Clikatat Ikatowi or Antioch Arrow. In 1997 the complete works of heroin were published on CD.

style

The group's style was clearly hardcore punk and screamo . While the music was dominated by fast and noisy guitars and screeched vocals, the band's lyrics revolved around disillusionment and pain.

Despite the band's relatively short career and rather low popularity, heroin was considered one of the pioneering screamo bands. To enter Thursday the group as one of its inspirations. Allmusic described the band as "one of the defining innovators of the hardcore of the early 90s".
