Heroman ( Japanese ヒ ー ロ ー マ ン , Hīrōman , stylized as HEROMAN ) is a manga from 2009 that was created in collaboration between Stan Lee and the animation studio Bones and was also implemented as an anime television series by the same studio , which was first published in 2010 in Japanese Television was shown.

The orphan boy Joey lives with his grandmother in Center City . There he goes to school and also works in a restaurant. When the new toy robot Heybo became very popular, Joey got the idea that he would also like to own such a robot. However, he cannot afford this expensive toy from his low salary.

However, by chance he comes into possession of such a robot after the thugs at the school, which includes a rich boy, abandoned one of them. He collects its remains and reassembles it. However, he does not succeed in getting the robot, which he himself called Heroman , to run. A lightning strike turns the toy into a giant robot that it can control from now on. This is how he manages to save his school friend Lina from an accident.

However, he does not know how to deal with his new comrade in arms, as he fears the interest in this creation. But a short time later he has to resort to the help of Heroman again when the earth is attacked by aliens in the form of insects, whom Joey's teacher unknowingly lured through his experiments.

The manga Heroman is written by Stan Lee as the author and illustrated by Tamon Ōta . The first chapter was published on August 12, 2009 within the Gekkan Shōnen Gangan magazine published by Square Enix , in which Heroman is still continued.

Anime

An adaptation of the manga as an anime television series was produced under the direction of Hitoshi Nanba in the animation studio Bones . The character design is based on that of the manga and was adapted to the anime by Shigeto Koyama. The artistic direction was taken over by Yumiko Kondō, while Takashi Tomioka and Toshihiro Kawamoto took over the direction of the animation. The series, which is to include 26 episodes, was first broadcast from April 1 to September 23, 2010 on TV Tokyo and the affiliated broadcasters TV Hokkaido , TV Aichi , TV Osaka , TV Setouchi and TVQ Kyushu simultaneously. The series was also available with English subtitles on the commercial Internet streaming service Crunchyroll .

In the opening credits of the series, the title Roulette is played, which Tetsuya Ogawa interpreted by L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel . The credits are highlighted with the title CALLING by Flow .
