The manor house Kasererhof (also called Gutshof St. Joseph or Josefshof) is located in the Josefiau district of Salzburg (Alpenstraße 6).

history

The "Josefs-Hof" owned by the archbishop's court master's office is mentioned as early as the 14th century. The manor house was built in 1642. In 1674 the merchant Peter Weiß is the new owner.

The baroque property belonged to the Glanegg nursing court . After Weiß, Abraham Zillner von Zillerberg becomes the new owner. In 1677 he had a chapel for St. Joseph , from which the district name Josefiau was derived. In 1688, Emperor Leopold I raised Zillner to imperial nobility. Around the middle of the 17th century, the property was owned by the composer Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber . At that time there was also a mill. In 1705 the property is sold to the dean of Altenmarkt im Pongau . He gave it to the "Collegium S. Caroli". The Collegium Sancti Caroli, a scholarship foundation of the University of Salzburg, owned the property from 1717. After the abolition of the Collegium in 1811, an inn was mentioned here for the first time, the so-called "Wirtshaus zu den Drei Sisters". In 1814 the palace and the Meierhof burned down. After various owners, the property was acquired by the Kaserer family - who also own the Kasererbräu in Kaigasse - and managed under the name "Kasererhof". After 1929 the house was taken over by the Günther-Strohbichler family.

Todays use

In the 1990s, the owner of the Hotel Kasererhof at the time had to file for bankruptcy. As a result, it was acquired by a hotel operating company, which converted it into the “Parkhotel Castellani”. The eponymous chapel is located in the rear courtyard of the hotel complex.

In December 2015, the Castellani Parkhotel was bought by the Austrian hotel group ARCOTEL Hotels & Resorts. Since then the Castellani Parkhotel has been called - ARCOTEL Castellani.
