The house with the address Herrenstraße 7
Seni tower

The former Herrenstrasse 7 department store in Memmingen , Upper Swabia, is a listed building in the old town.

The three-storey eaves house has six axes and was built before 1570. The second floor is set off by a round arch frieze. The simple consoles protrude. An oriel at the level of the northern second axis begins on the second floor. Between the second and third floors there is a fresco with a coat of arms . A roof turret above the south gable is also called the Seni tower. He received the name from Giovanni Battista Seni , the court astrologer of Wallenstein . In 1630 he stayed in the city for about three months and is said to have observed the stars from this roof turret. Wallenstein itself was stored in the Fugger building, only a few meters away .

On the ground floor of the former department store there is a three-aisled hall of three bays with a groin vault over belts on pillars. On the belts there are still remnants of the former palmette decoration as a bas-relief . A settled wooden ceiling on the second floor from the second half of the 16th century is divided by a modern partition.
