history
The oldest branch in the branching history of Herrnbräu goes back to 1471, when Danielbräu was founded, with which Herrnbräu merged in 1873 to become Actienbrauerei Ingolstadt .
The history of the Herrnbräu brand itself doesn't begin until the 17th century. In 1817, Herrnbräu set up an inn and an attached brewery in the Georgianum after the seminary previously housed there had moved to Landshut and Munich together with the university . In 1882 a second share brewery, the Bürgerliche Brauhaus Ingolstadt, was founded in Ingolstadt . In 1899, the Actienbrauerei Ingolstadt transferred its assets to the civil brewery Ingolstadt . 1929 took over Civil Brauhaus Ingolstadt the Weißbräu house at the Doll road. Since the mid-1960s, the brewery has been selling its beers uniformly under the Herrnbräu brand . At about the same time, the brewery moved from the old town to the industrial park on Manchinger Straße. Since 1997 the brewery has also been producing non-alcoholic beverages under the name Bernadett Brunnen . On January 1st, 2003 the Bürgerliche Brauhaus Ingolstadt AG spun off the operational brewery business to Herrnbräu GmbH & Co. KG , but remained a 100% subsidiary of BBI. On April 1, 2008, Herrnbräu acquired the trademark rights to the Ingolstadt-based Ingobräu brewery . To mark the 500th anniversary of the Purity Law, in 2016 Herrnbräu built a brewpub again in one of the original breweries, the Gasthaus Daniel.
Herrnbräu is now a 100% subsidiary of the listed BHB Brauholding Bayern-Mitte AG and manages its operational business.
