Achberg Castle

The Achberg lordship with its seat at Achberg Castle was first mentioned in 1194. The rule came in 1235 from the Lords of Achberg to the Truchsessen von Waldburg and from them in 1335 to the Lords of Molpertshaus . From 1352 the rule was a fiefdom of the Habsburgs . From 1366 to 1392 the estate was owned by the Öder family. The Counts of Königsegg followed in 1412, and the Barons of Syrgenstein in 1530 . 1691 Achberg was sold to the Teutonic Order by Josef Franz Ferdinand von Syrgenstein .

In the course of secularization , Bavaria was given the rule of Achberg in December 1805, but the rule of the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen was assigned to the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen through the Rhine Confederation Treaty in 1806 and, as an exclave far from the core area, formed its southernmost territory.
