The rule of Blumenfeld , based at Blumenfeld Castle in Blumenfeld , today a district of Tengen in the district of Konstanz ( Baden-Württemberg ), was first handed down around 1100. Initially, the lordship was owned by the von Blumegg lords and in 1292 passed to the von Klingenberg knights . In 1488 the rule of Blumenfeld was sold to the Teutonic Order Commander Mainau, which belonged to the Alsace and Burgundy Ballei .

As part of the mediatization in 1806, the rule of Blumenfeld came under the sovereignty of Baden .
