Brochenzell rule

The Brochenzell lordship , based in Brochenzell , today part of the municipality of Meckenbeuren in the Lake Constance district ( Baden-Württemberg ), was sold in 1277 by Berthold von Heiligenberg to his uncle Hugo von Werdenberg . Before 1439, Count Wilhelm IV of Montfort bought the rule . In 1447 his son Hugo had to sell the rule to the Humpis because of financial problems . In 1721 the rule came to the Weingarten monastery .

As part of the secularization in 1802/03, Brochenzell came under the sovereignty of Nassau-Orange , in 1804 to Austria and 1805 to Württemberg .
