life and work

  • Shampooing douche (1994)
  • Pattern - Vanité 2b (2003)

In the project published in 1997 on the documenta X website , which deals with the fictional person Raoul Pictor , Graumann deals with the boundary between author and machine.

«Hervé Graumann does not doubt that his painting machine, which he gives a name and something to work with (ink, paper and electricity), has just created a personality that overwhelms and haunts him, even with its individuality will provoke. If Raoul Pictor was initially also the product of Hervé Graumann (didn't he write every single page of his program?), It seems that he has rubbed off on his creator in the meantime. Has the creator, the individual who creates something and expresses himself, now become a mute statement of his machines? "
