Herwig Mahr

Herwig Mahr (born July 20, 1959 in Linz ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and self-employed technician. Mahr has been a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament since 2009 .

Life

After Keferfeld elementary school, Mahr attended grammar school in Fadingerstraße for four years and then graduated from the Paul Hahnstraße technical college for mechanical engineering. Between 1979 and 1980 Mahr did his military service in the armed forces and was then employed by the Hable company between 1980 and 1982. Mahr worked for TANN Papier between 1982 and 1991, and has been with his company Elektro Tiefenbacher Ges.mbH since 1992. working as a freelance technician in Traun.

Mahr joined the FPÖ in 1977 and was a local councilor in Traun between 1985 and 1991 and held the office of vice mayor between 1991 and 2003. Between 2003 and 2009, Mahr was again a councilor and chairman of the examination board. Mahr has also been FPÖ city party chairman since 1985 and deputy district party chairman since 1987. In 2005 he was elected to the FPÖ state party leadership, and in 2006 was last confirmed as district chairman of the Ring of Freedom Economists (RFW). On October 23, 2009, Mahr was sworn in as a member of the state parliament.

After the state elections in Upper Austria in 2015 , he was elected club chairman of the FPÖ state parliament club Upper Austria on October 23, 2015, succeeding Günther Steinkellner in this role .

In June 2019, Herwig Mahr was appointed Vice President of the Supervisory Board of Oberösterreichische Versicherung , while Reinhold Mitterlehner was appointed President of the Supervisory Board .

Mahr has been married since 1982 and has one son.
