The Herzo Rhinos (registered as: Herzogenaurach Rhinos) are the American football department of ASV Herzogenaurach eV in the Bayern Nord Aufbauliga from the sports city of Herzogenaurach in Franconia .
history
The Herzo Rhinos were launched in 2016 by a few football fans as Herzo Jets in Herzogenaurach on the football field of the former US barracks, Herzo Base .
In April 2018 it joined as an independent department with already 21 founding members, under the new name Herzo Rhinos , the ASV Herzogenaurach eV.
In the 2018 season, the Herzo Rhinos took part in the league operation of the German Flag Football League ( DFFL ) for the first time and crowned their participation on July 7, 2018 with the "Herzo Bowl", their first home game on Rhinos Field .
Main club
The club was founded in 1919 as the Pfeil sports club.
After the dissolution during the time of National Socialism because of its membership in workers' sport, it was re-established under its current name after the Second World War.
Supported by the local sporting goods manufacturer Adidas and its owner Adolf Dassler , the soccer club played in the Bavarian League from 1972 to 1977. In the 1973/74 season, the ASV won the title. However, due to the restructuring of the league system in German football and the dissolution of the regional leagues in favor of a 2nd Bundesliga, the club was not granted promotion rights. After relegation to the lowest division from the end of the 1980s, the club now plays in the B class.
Club crest
The club coat of arms of the ASV Herzogenaurach eV has gone through several evolutionary steps since the club was founded in 1919 until its present form. In 2018 the logo of the American football department , the Herzo Rhinos , was added.
Club colors
The club colors of the main club are traditionally red and white. The game is often played in red, white and black.
Based on the heraldic animal , the rhinoceros , the colors for the American football team have been expanded to include gray. The colors of the Herzo Rhinos are red, black and gray. This was also implemented in the jerseys.
Stadion
The Herzo Rhinos play their home games at Rhinos Field in the heart of the city of Herzogenaurach . The Rhinos Field holds around 2,500 spectators.
