Duke of Choiseul

Duke of Choiseul is a French title of nobility, the 1665 César de Choiseul, 1er duc de Choiseul (1598-1675) and since 1645 César Auguste de Choiseul Marshal of France , was awarded. With the death of his younger son César Auguste de Choiseul, the third Duke of Choiseul, the title expired in 1705.

In 1758 the title of Duke was reassigned: Étienne-François de Choiseul (1719–1785), 1758–1761 French Foreign Minister , was appointed Duke of Choiseul-Stainville (his father, François Joseph de Choiseul (1694–1769), was Marquis de Stainville ). This title also expired with the third Duke (1838)

Another elevation to the duke is that of César Gabriel de Choiseul-Praslin , Comte de Chevigny and French Foreign Minister 1761–1766, as Duke of Praslin . This most famous of all titles used by the Choiseul family still exists today.

In 1762 César Gabriel de Choiseul-Praslin , Comte de Chevigny and French Foreign Minister, was appointed Duke of Praslin. The title is still in use.
