Hesperia (magazine)

The Hesperia is a quarterly journal published by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens is issued.

The magazine was launched in 1932 to provide a publication medium for the American School's research . This is still their main purpose today. In addition, contributions by international scholars from the fields of archeology , art history , history , epigraphy , literature and ethnology of Greece from the earliest times are published in it. Geographically, the entire Greek cultural area is covered without any time restriction. The entire Mediterranean region is included in the contributions to the history and methods of archeology .

Results of primary research , interdisciplinary studies and synopses on specific topics or problems are equally accepted. Before acceptance, the contributions are subjected to a peer review carried out by at least two independent scientists as a double-blind report . The volumes of the journal appear both in print and digitally. Individual articles are freely available on the Hesperia website. The editor is Susan Lupack in 2017. The ISSN for the print area is 0018-098X, for the online edition it is 1553-5622.

The magazine is supplemented by the Hesperia Supplements as a monographic series.
