The Hessen-Homburg Monument is a listed war memorial in the Großgörschen district of the city of Lützen in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the memorial stone is listed as a monument under registration number 094 13113 .

The Hessen-Homburg monument was erected for Prince Leopold of Hessen-Homburg , who died in the Battle of Großgörschen on May 2, 1813 . The monument was erected at the instigation of his sister Princess Maria Anna Amalie von Hessen-Homburg . The monument was designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and the prince's sister, Princess Maria Anna Amalie von Hessen-Homburg, was responsible for its erection. The inauguration took place in 1815, two years after his death. In 1974 the monument had to be removed due to a state of dilapidation and rusting. Today a copy of the original memorial has stood in the same place since May 2nd, 1999.

The inscription on the memorial reads Here died the death of honor for God and Fatherland in the battle on May 2, 1813, Leopold Victor Friedrich Prince of Hessen-Homburg, born February 10, 1787 .

The monument stands east of the Scharnhorst School (Großgörschen) at the intersection of Platz der Deutschen Einheit and Scharnhorststraße in Großgörschen.
