The Hessen-Kassel cavalry regiment K 1 was set up under the unofficial name "Regiment Karabiniers" in the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel in 1672 under the command of Major Wilhelm von Hornumb .

  • 1728 Brigadier Carl Ludwig von Spiegel zum Desenberg ; later became major general in Hessen-Darmstadt and commandant of Giessen; thereupon Imperial Russian and finally Royal Prussian Lieutenant General
