Hettenheim is one of the two historical components of today's local community Hettenleidelheim in the Bad Dürkheim district .
location
Hettenheim forms the east of the settlement area of the local community. Immediately to the north is the Erdekaut nature reserve . Structurally it has grown together with the former Leidelheim; accordingly, spatial separation is no longer possible.
history
Like all other localities ending in -heim, Hettenheim was founded in the 6th century. His first-time documentary mention was made in the 12th century with the words ... et quodquod habebant aput hitenheim ... , German: ... and that what they had in Hitenheim ... . In 1155, the Ramsen monastery belonging to the diocese of Worms owned goods in the village. After the monastery was dissolved in 1485, the municipality belonged politically to the Worms Monastery . In 1556, Bishop Dietrich von Bettendorf issued a joint local law for them with the neighboring community of Leidelheim and combined both localities under a village court with the same mayor . Nevertheless, the two villages were run separately until the end of the 18th century. It was not until 1828 that the place name "Hettenleidelheim" was established. In the meantime, Hettenheim is no longer perceived as an independent settlement.
Infrastructure
In the 16th century, Hettenheim, which was Protestant at the time, and the local, now defunct St. Stephan Chapel, was a branch of the parish of Eisenberg (Pfalz) . Said chapel was located where the listed warrior's grove has since been created. At that time there was about one kilometer of land between Hettenheim and Leidelheim that was undeveloped.
